McDonald's giving away free items TODAY ahead of England's clash with Argentina

Football supporters in Sunderland have a special reason to visit McDonald's today, as the restaurant chain is celebrating goalkeeper Jordan Pickford's latest England achievement with a one-day promotion.

To honor Pickford becoming England's most-capped men's FIFA World Cup player, two McDonald's restaurants in his hometown of Washington, Sunderland, have temporarily renamed their Saver Menu as the "Saved Menu." The promotion pays tribute to the England goalkeeper, whose performances have made him one of the country's most recognizable football stars.

As part of the celebration, customers visiting the participating restaurants between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Wednesday, July 15, can receive selected menu items free of charge. Included in the offer are favorites such as the Double Cheeseburger, a selection of small milkshakes, and both the Mini Oreo McFlurry and Mini Smarties McFlurry.

Fans will also have the opportunity to collect limited-edition cold cups featuring stickers inspired by Pickford's well-known penalty "cheat sheet," created to commemorate his record-breaking accomplishment.

The promotion is available exclusively at the McDonald's branches located in The Galleries Shopping Center and The Peel Center in Washington, Sunderland. It is not being offered at restaurants elsewhere in the UK.

Although the free giveaway is limited to Sunderland, customers across the country can still take advantage of another offer: McDonald's is running a buy one, get one free deal on Big Macs ordered for delivery from 5:00 pm today.

Jasper Maudsley, the local franchise owner responsible for the Washington restaurants, said the community is proud to see one of its own achieve such an important milestone for England. He explained that the "Saved Menu" promotion is intended to thank local supporters and celebrate the occasion with football fans.

Alongside the football-themed promotion, McDonald's has also expanded its menu with the return of the Cornetto McFlurry, which has been absent for 17 years. The dessert combines the chain's signature soft-serve ice cream with a choice of chocolate or strawberry sauce, finished with crunchy pieces of a Cornetto cone.

The fast-food chain has also introduced three new dipping sauces—Hot Honey, Korean BBQ, and Ranch—as well as two new menu items: the Hot Honey Sausage & Egg McMuffin and the Hot Honey McCrispy.
